How do I store hardwood flooring that I’m not using right away?

  • Avoid loading or unloading hardwood flooring when the weather is wet (humid, rain, snow, etc.). Moisture can damage wood in different ways like changing its shape or developing cracks as it dries.
  • Find the right storage location. Avoid using a garage or basement which are more exposed to dampness or temperature fluctuations.
  • Monitor your conditions by keeping a track of the humidity of the storage area as well as the humidity of the hardwood flooring boards.
